Synthetic Turf & Artificial Lawn FAQ
Where Can The Turf be Installed?

Our turf can be installed virtually anywhere, including any areas where natural grass can't grow like heavily shaded and/or heavy traffic areas.

How Much Does Synthetic Grass Cost?

The price varies depending in the type of grass you want and the difficulty of the installation.

Can You Sculpt The Turf Around Walkways, Pools, Plants or Trees?

You most likely have some key elements in your landscaping that you want to keep. Large trees, walkways, flower beds, etc. Put your mind at ease, our turf can be installed around all types of obstacles, just like real sod grass. As a matter of fact, in most cases, our grass is easier to install than sod because it comes in wider widths and longer lengths.

What Keeps the Turf In Place?

Our turf will not wash away or blow away, if that's your question. The turf's own weight (approximately 1-2 pound per square foot) will usually be enough to keep it secure, but we do recommend some infill to help the fibers stand up naturally and prevent "matting." Additionally, the infill will assist in weighing down the turf for an even more secure and trouble free installation. A combination of sand and rubber infill are popular choices for infill materials. For higher traffic areas, many people prefer the "soft" feel of rubber granule infill. For lighter traffic areas, cheaper sand infill can be used.

How Well Does the Turf Hold Up in High Traffic Areas?

Taking the traffic an area receives into consideration is important. Costs can be lowered by using a sand infill material for lower traffic areas. For high traffic areas we recommend, and most people prefer the feel of, our "soft" feel rubber granule infill.

How Does the Cost of Synthetic Turf Compare to Real Grass?

Not to be vague but we need to know what the "real" cost of a natural lawn is. First there's the actual cost of the sod along with the cost of installation. Then the price to have your sprinkler system installed to keep it alive, then the yearly expense of water, fertilizer, maintenance, toxic pesticides (Don't you hate fire ants?) year after year after year. Oh yeah, and don't forget what you have to pay to have the lawn mowed every week throughout the Spring and Summer and/or the cost of the lawn mower, weedeater, edger, etc.

And probably the most expensive part of a natural lawn is the water bill every month. And we all know it's going up every year.

So all things considered it's only a matter of time before a lawn actually pays for itself.

Is Your Turf Safe for Playgrounds and Children?

Providing a safe environment for children is always important. Our turf is just as safe as natural turf for children to play on. Some say, even safer since fire ants usually avoid artificial turf and you don't have to spray pesticides or fertilizers on it.

But, we can do a lot better than that... We have a fall zone rated safety under-layment pad and a shock absorbing antibacterial infill that can be used to greatly increase the safety of the area. . With these added materials we can achieve " fall zone rating" of up to 12 feet'. (Yes, that's a 12 foot fall rating).

Which Lawn Turf Should I Use?

There are three things to consider when selecting the lawn grass for your location.

  • First is to choose a lawn turf that is native to your area. These lawn grass turfs look really great but you want them to look natural to the environment.
  • What is your preference on lawn height? Some you want a 'just mown' look then select a turf that has a shorter height like the U-MG1-250. If you want a look that is a little taller then the C-US60-235 is a good choice since it is 60mm tall
  • Price is always a consideration. Fortunately the price difference between the various lawn turf selections is fairly small but even a small price can add up if you are planning on replacing a large lawn area.

How is Your Turf Different From Other Synthetic Turf?

Bottom line is that ours looks more real and comes with a longer warranty too. Our turf fibers are UV-protected and have been manufactured to resemble real grass. There has been extensive research and development to get these advanced fibers to the point they are today.

How Long Will Your Turf Last the DFW Area and Does it Fade?

With basic care and the application of our UV enhancement treatment, your turf can have a life expectancy of 20+ years. Our turf carries a 5-year limited warranty against excessive wear, fading and sun. This warranty will be extended to 8 years with the application of our bi-annual UV treatment. Due to the extremely high UV rays we experience in the Dallas, Fort Worth area (along with Arizona, New Mexico and Nevada) in order to extend the warranty to 8 years a bi-annual application of a UV protector is required. To extend the warranty, the UV treatment must be applied and verified by our company.

Is the Turf Maintenance-Free?

Keeping your lawn beautiful all year long is pretty darn easy with our product. Our turf is hassle-free and as maintenance-free as it gets. Once installed, just keep leaves and debris off the surface (a leaf blower works great for this). If you see any weeds, (a fairly rare occurrence) just spray or pull them as you would with your real grass lawn.

How Do I Keep My Turf Clean, Especially When I Have Pets?

Did you know that a lot of kennels and veterinarians offices are converting to synthetic turf? It's easier on the pets, there's no chemicals like fertilizers needed and the yellow circles that sometimes occur with pets are gone.

Artificial turf is easier to keep clean than real grass. Use a rake or blower to clean up leaves. To remove animal feces, scoop it up and wash the area with a garden hose, just like you would real grass. Urine flows through just like rainwater. In the heat of July and August in the Dallas, Fort Worth area, we do recommend a periodic rinse down with a garden hose.

What Happens When It Rains or Snows?

Thankfully living in the DFW area means we don't have to worry much about snow. But you should know that this turf is actually quite popular in Canada, so snow should never be an issue.

For any concerns about rain, know that, during the manufacturing process, the turf is specifically perforated with holes engineered to accommodate the normal drainage requirements of rain and snowstorms. The water simply drains through the small drainage holes into the ground. The sand and rubber infill help absorb and hold the water which will eventually drain through. During heavy rains, some water will run off the top of the surface just as it would with natural grass or dirt. The infill allows for evaporation and the perforated holes encourage vertical drainage.

Is The Turf Subject to Mold?

No, with proper drainage, standing or pooling water is eliminated and thus the mold is not an issue. We also add anti-bacterial infill to every installation as a standard practice as a precaution too.

Will Bugs Be Attracted to the Synthetic Turf?

Wouldn't it be nice to have a lawn without fire ants? Our turf doesn't offer any nutrients for bugs to feed on. As a result, they will likely move to a yard with real grass. In addition, bugs have a difficult time coming through the perforated rubber backing.

Why should I install a synthetic lawn Instead of a Real One?

Real grass lawns are not only expensive, but they require irrigation and weekly maintenance, such as mowing, watering, fertilizing, thatching, wedding, edging, toxic chemical pesticides and winter over-seeding. Our lawns save you these expenses and eliminate the hassles, and will actually help increase property value. As a bonus, our turf helps preserve natural resources, cuts down on yard waste in landfills and helps reduce pollution from lawn mowers and reduces the use of toxic pesticides and fertilizers.
